Welcome to the COAVS Skill Labs, well-equipped Refraction Clinics. Our clinic is dedicated to providing exceptional eye care services and ensuring optimal vision for all our patients. Optometry department was established in 2010 at COAVS. It provides comprehensive vision care, which includes refraction and dispensing, diagnosis and management of diseases in the eye, and the rehabilitation of the conditions of visual system.
It consists of 8 fully trained and qualified faculty members with 3 specialized clinical skill labs, 1 low vision clinic, 1 contact lens clinic, more than 5 lecture theatres and auditorium. Optometrists are also responsible for teaching and training of under-graduate and post graduate optometry students. COAVS has trained about 385 BSc Vision Sciences Students. Currently over 200 students of BSc Optometry and 07 M Phil Optometry scholars are being trained. The department also arranges refresher sessions for optometrists working in DHQ, THQ hospitals and RHC’s.
Embark on a journey of experiential learning at The College of Ophthalmology & Allied Vision Sciences (COAVS) our Refraction Clinics /Skill Labs boasts state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate and precise assessments. Experience the difference at COAVS College Refraction Clinic – where your vision is our priority. Certainly!
Our team of highly skilled and experienced optometrists and ophthalmologists are committed to delivering top-quality care using the latest technology and techniques. Whether you require a routine eye exam, prescription glasses, or specialized treatments for eye conditions, our clinic is equipped to meet your needs.
Range of Services Available:
- Refraction tests to determine your exact prescription
- Contact lens fittings
- Vision Therapy
- Management of various orthoptic disorders.
Equipment Present:
- Autorefractors
- Slit Lamps
- Trial Box
- Vision chart
- Lensometer
- Retinoscope and Ophthalmoscope
- Phoropter to develop skills in conducting refraction tests and in determining a patient’s binocular vision status.
- Schematic Refraction eye models as practical tools to develop and refine clinical expertise of the students.
After getting proper practice, Students then engage in hands-on exercises, practicing techniques such as measuring visual acuity, performing subjective refraction, and assessing binocular vision. This hands-on approach enables students to build confidence, develop a comprehensive understanding of optometric procedures, and transition seamlessly from the skill lab to real-world clinical practice. Therefore Regular use of Schematic Eye is integral to ensuring that students who are assigned practical rotation in skill lab.
They also learn about the measurement of lens powers of spectacles by getting experience and skills to use lensometer. Lensometer, a tool of optical finesse, imparts the skill of measuring lenses accurately, an essential aspect of the refraction symphony.
